Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does it work? Helping Home donates 25% of our gross commission to the charity of the client’s choice. There are no restrictions other than the nonprofit must be a 501(c)3 in good standing.

2. Who receives the tax deduction? On the buyer side, the Helping Home Realty writes the check to the charity and donates in the client’s name resulting in Helping Home receiving the tax deduction. On the selling side, we reduce the commission by 25% at closing and have our client write the check to the charity of their choosing resulting in the client receiving the tax deduction. Verbiage is included in the seller listing agreement under special provisions.

3. Why doesn't the Buyer receive the tax deduction? We do not write a check to the buyer at closing, because If we did, we would have to 1099 them for the income, which would need to be claimed on their income tax, resulting in zero tax benefit for the buyer.

4. Do you charge more commission? NO!
